1985
John Poe Architects, Inc. was founded as a full service architectural, planning, and interior design firm. John Poe personally served as the Architect of Record for hundreds of projects and developed an impressive reputation for both ethical business practices and an innovative architectural style. Under his direction, the firm received 14 design awards and 3 business awards including the 1997 Integrity Eclipse Award, the 1998 Business Advisor Small Business Award, and the 1997 Enterprise Sprit Award from the Kettering/Moraine/Oakwood Chamber of Commerce. In addition to designing award-winning projects and managing a successful practice, John served on the Board of Directors for the Ohio chapter of the American Institute of Architects and was an active member in AIA Dayton.
2023
After 38 years, John Poe announced his retirement and introduced a new executive leadership team to position the firm for future growth. Aaron Poe stepped into the role of COO after more than 14 years with JPA. Mike Duke assumed the role of Principal and leads JPA’s private sector work, including education, religious, municipal, and commercial projects. Jason Ross was also promoted to the role of Principal and leads JPA’s government/healthcare sector, building the firm’s large scale medical portfolio. John Poe Architects was rebranded to JPA Architecture. Aaron, Mike, and Jason honor John’s legacy by continuing to deliver industry leading, innovative projects today. JPA's goal has always remained the same: to pursue design excellence, and provide both local and national clients with superior, user-focused design.
